2013-2014 Ambassador Team
The Ambassadors program was founded to encourage young women to become involved in the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, while helping to promote the western way of life. When the program began, the primary function of the Ambassadors was to ride and perform as a drill team during rodeo performances and to carry flags throughout the performances. The team also represented the Association at a variety of other rodeos and events across the state.
Today, the Ambassador program has grown to include the Drill Team and a Non-Drill Team Group to encourage those who do not own a horse to participate in events the Association hosts. Drill Team members must be excellent riders and horseman and do still perform drills and post flags during rodeo performances here and around the state. This group is required to attend numerous, extensive practices year round to ensure the drills go off without a hitch!
The Non-Drill Ambassadors serve more of a public relations role throughout the year. These girls, with some help from the Drill Team, sale merchandise at events, work events hosted by the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association and several other similar activities!
