Ambassadors
The Ambassador Program was created to encourage young women to get involved with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. At the onset of the program, the main function of the Ambassadors were to ride and perform as a part of a drill team which was to present flags throughout rodeo performances and present a drill program during each of the rodeo programs. The girls also represent the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo at other events throughout the state.
Today, the Ambassador Program has expanded to include young women wanting to be involved with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo activities but do not own a horse: the Drill Team and Non-Drill Ambassadors. Drill Team members must be excellent riders and still perform drills during rodeo performances at San Angelo and numerous other rodeos across the state. They are required to go through extensive practices year round to ensure that drills go off without a hitch! The Non-Drill Ambassadors serve a more public relations type roll throughout the year. These individuals along with the Drill Team help sale merchandise at events, work events hosted by the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Association and several other similar jobs.
