Ewe Lamb Futurity Schedule

5:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20- Weigh in Lambs, Take Fleece Samples, & Turn in books.

Sunday, Feb. 21-
At 2:00 p.m.- Sheep need to be tied to fence for judging in fleece.
While sheep are shorn, kids will judge a fleece class, and take the test. There will be no live animal class this year.
Following the sheep being shorn, and completion of the test, we will judge the animals out of fleece.

UPDATE 2/17/2021

Longhorn Show Update 2/17/2021

All Longhorns will arrive on Saturday, February 20 and must be in the barn by 2:30 p.m.

The Open Show will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 20. The Youth Show will be SUNDAY, February 21 at 9:00 a.m. The double points show will be cancelled and fees will be refunded.

2/17/2021- UPDATE #2

Due to the ongoing water issues in San Angelo the following changes have been made:

All Breeding Sheep and Ewe Lamb Futurity entries will arrive on Saturday 2/20/2021. All sheep must be in the barn by 5 pm.
All Breeding Sheep Shows and Ewe Lamb Futurity will be judged on Sunday 2/21/2021. We will begin at 8am with the Junior Breeding Sheep Show (Dorper, White Dprper, Rambouillet, Delaine, Southdown, other wool and medium wool breeds.) At 1pm or immediately following the Junior Show the Open Show (Dorper, White Dorper, Rambouillet, other wool breeds, Southdown, other medium wool breeds.)

UPDATE 2/17/2021

2/17/2021- WEATHER/SHOW UPDATE

The San Angelo Fairgrounds currently does not have water due to water main breaks throughout the city. We have a water truck on the grounds inside the Gandy Ink Show Barn, by the wash racks. This water may be used for animal consumption. We do not have sufficient water pressure at this point to wash livestock. The city is working diligently to get the issues fixed.

We will proceed with the second wave of barrows as scheduled. The arrival time has been extended to 6:00 p.m. this evening. We already have a lot of barrows on the grounds, and have floor trucks that cannot be rescheduled.


Market Steer Show: The live feed cannot be live, as the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena does not have electricity, and that show has been moved to the show arena in the Housley Communications Cattle Barn. IT IS BEING RECORDED, and the video will be uploaded after the completion of the show.


Junior Rabbit Show: Has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 21 at 8:30 a.m. Plans at current are still to hold this event in the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena, but may have to move locations.

Jr. & Open Breeding Sheep Shows: All breeds can arrive on Friday, February 19 in the HEB Community Center, but Dorpers MUST BE in place Friday by 5:00 p.m. Dorper & White Dorpers will show on Saturday, February 20. All other breeds may arrive SATURDAY, Feb. 20 by 5:00 p.m., and will exhibit on Sunday, February 21.

Longhorn Show is still as scheduled at this point.

ALL JUDGING CONTESTS ARE CANCELLED.
We will look to reschedule if possible. The ASU MIR Center has been experiencing rolling black outs, and the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena has been without power.

We will update as more information becomes available. ADDITIONALLY, our phone lines are currently down, as is internet service in the barn. PLEASE KNOW we are doing our BEST in this situation. There are MANY factors to take into consideration, and the vast majority of the issues are out of our hands.


STEER SHOW UPDATE

The Steer Show Arrival on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 will be extended to 4:00 p.m. Classifying will begin at 4:30 p.m. We will begin unloading Steers at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, 2/16.

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE: 2/14/2021

Barrow Show Wave 1 Update: Arrival will be extended that all trailers must be on grounds by 6:00 p.m. 2/15/2021 for Wave 1. Weight cards must be turned in by 7:00 p.m. for Wave 1.

Wave 2 barrows will NOT be unloaded.

If you are having trouble getting here- CALL US at 325-658-5061. Please do not wait until 5:30 to tell us you are running behind, we would rather receive multiple updates than not know.

The show will begin at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday for all Hamps and Crosses.

WEATHER UPDATE 2/12/2021

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE: 2/12/2021

We are constantly monitoring the weather situation, and understand the dangerous weather conditions ahead. While we understand the hazardous conditions, we do not have the ability to reschedule the show. We are not cancelling, and will continue as scheduled.

HEIFER SHOW WAVE 2: We are going to allow Wave 2 exhibitors to arrive a day early, Friday, February 12, 2021. Once you arrive, you may stall yourself- please be courteous and take the appropriate amount of space. Please understand, while we did get the majority of the barn clean, a lot of cattle held over from Wave 1 to leave this morning, and those stalls have not been cleaned. We have access to sawdust outside each barn if you need additional sawdust for your stalls. With us making this adjustment to allow you to arrive today, we can simply not get the barns completely clean. The committee will be in the Housley Communications to sell additional shavings and straw if you need it on arrival. Tie-outs will be self serve for Wave 2. TRAILERS: Please park unloaded trailers in the trailer lot by the Red Barn.


GILTS & BARROWS: Everything is still on schedule as is for the shows. We cannot allow heat lamps or heaters in the barn at the pens. You can tarp your pen- just ensure it is tied up properly and does not become a trip hazard for anyone else. We do have heaters available around the bleacher area where there is no shavings. Barn doors will be closed as much as possible to keep heat in the barn.


The safety of our volunteers, exhibitors, their family and advisors is extremely important to us. If you cannot make it safely, please stay home.


To those coming, please be patient. We are dedicated to putting on a great show for you with those of us that can be here.

Show Updates for 2021


Important Things to Keep In Mind:


-There will be NO camping in the barns. We have acquired additional pens for the southeast corner of the Gandy Ink Livestock Barn so the formerly open area will be full of additional pens. The area north of the pens toward the office will have a strict NO CAMPING policy. No chairs, equipment, etc. will be allowed in the area.

-Market Lambs and Wether Dams will NOT be allowed in the barn with Market Goats and/or Wether Does.

-Market Barrows will not be allowed in the barn with gilts.

-Heifer Show: Wave 2 heifers can NOT be in the barn (including wash bays) during the Wave 1 shows. They WILL be allowed in tie-outs, and an outdoor area for washing will be available. Wave 1 heifers will NOT be allowed in the barn (including wash bays) during the Wave 2 shows. They WILL be allowed to stay in the tie-out area.

-Wave 2 Breeding Sheep will not be allowed in the barn with Wave 1 breeding sheep, and vice versa.

-The Junior Premium Sale has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2021. Exhibitors will be required to attend, unless conditions for a substitute exhibitor are approved. Animals will NOT be present at the sale. Exhibitors will walk through the sale. Only 1st and 2nd, Breed and Reserve Breed Champions, Grand and Reserve Grand Champions will attend.

-In order to receive an exhibitor's packet at check-in- the driver MUST have the exhibitor's Family Wellness Assessment Form. These forms will be taken at stall assignments. If an exhibitor is in multiple shows (multiple arrivals) one will be required at each arrival.

PASS UPDATE- 1/27/2021
Club Passes- All passes ordered at the time of entry were mailed by January 11. All of those passes were mailed certified and should have been delivered by now. HOWEVER- it has been brought to our attention, some have not. If you are an AST/CEA that has NOT received passes, please contact our office. If your club has "problems" our office has your passes on hold, and we have made numerous attempts to resolve those issues.
Open Show & Rabbit Show passes- were all mailed out no later than mid-week last week. This includes the Open Breeding Sheep Show, Boer Goat Show, and Longhorn Show. LLAMA SHOW PASSES WILL BE PICKED UP AT ARRIVAL.
The Late Pass Purchase #1- which was open January 4 through 13- all of those passes went in the mail January 14, and should have been received by now.
LATE PASS PURCHASE #2- WILL CLOSE TONIGHT. Those passes will be mailed tomorrow. Passes will not be available through the website after tonight.
While we can control the timing of things leaving this office, we can NOT control what happens to them once they leave this office, nor can we control your mail coming in to the office. Please be patient and understand that A LOT of the issues here are out of our control.
Kids 2nd Grade & Under are NOT required to have a pass. These are the card style passes we have used this past several years- NOT WRISTBANDS. *We do still request that only immediate family and advisors attend the show*

The Family Wellness Assessment Form will be REQUIRED OF ALL EXHIBITORS AT THE TIME THE ANIMAL ARRIVES AT THE GATE. In order to receive a stall and weight cards/check in papers- the driver of the vehicle must have a completed form for every exhibitor with animals on the trailer.

This form includes all people attending the event on behalf of your exhibitor.

This form will be REQUIRED EVERY TIME you get stalls. For example, if you show in Wave 1 Barrows, and Wave 2 we will need a form each time. The form is good for each family unit.

HEIFER EXHIBITORS

If you have any issues with your Heifers on the posted forms below. DO NOT PANIC. We will help resolve any issues. We will be at the office in the Gandy Ink Barn by 6:45 a.m. 2/11/2021.
All Market Lambs and Wether Dams entered in the San Angelo Stock Show MUST have a valid TLBA (Texas Lamb Breeders' Association) tag in its ear and recorded on Texas Livestock Validation paperwork.


Below is an Excel spreadsheet provided by the Texas Sheep and Goat Validation office for exhibitors to verify their animals are eligible to show in San Angelo. Please carefully review the spreadsheet- organized first by county the animals were validated in (even if you are an FFA member, it is by county) and then last, first name of exhibitor.

If there is only a "/" in the TLBA field, the validation office does NOT have record of a TLBA number for that corresponding validation tag number, and therefore, that animal is INELIGIBLE to show in San Angelo.

The validation tag in the lambs ear will only contain the last 5 digits of the Validation Tag number listed on the spreadsheet. Additionally the first five digits ahead of the "/" in the validation number column is the tag number. TLBA tags vary in the number of digits.
