The Steer Roping Qualifier will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena. Ten ropers will advance to the Invitational Steer Roping at the Cinch Roping Fiesta Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Outdoor Roping Arena on the San Angelo Fairgrounds. Check in from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the entry office in the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena, and the roping begins at 10:00 a.m.
Qualifier Event Information
The Qualifier event will be three full go-rounds with no finals. First to enter, last to rope. Cattle will be chute run. Entry fee is $500.00. Event pays 4 average placings and two in each go round. The Qualifier Event is not sanctioned.
Entries open Monday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m. To enter, call 325-653-7785, or mail in the entry form below. Entry will not be considered complete until fees are received. Books close Wednesday, September 18 at 4:00 p.m. There will be no late entry. Refunds with a 10% credit card fee until close of books on September 18th. After books close, no refunds will be issued. Ropers may convey entry to another roper with approval via telephone prior to assignment.
The qualifier is open to any steer ropers, except the top 20 in the world as of the close of books. The top 20 in the world will be automatically invited to the Invitational roping on Sunday, October 27. Any changes in the top 20 standings between close of books and the end of the day September 20 at midnight affecting contestants moving in or out of the top 20 will be conveyed an invitation to the Cinch Roping Fiesta, even if it adds additional ropers.
Qualifiers to Invitational Event
The top 4 average times on three head and the top two in each go-round will qualify to advance to the Invitational Steer Roping. If a contestant qualifies from multiple placing, the order of qualifications will be: Average, 1st Go, 2nd Go, and 3rd Go. A contestant can not select a qualification that would provide an advantage to any roper. All advancing ropers to the invitational event must be active and eligible PRCA members prior to roping on Sunday, October 27th. If a roper is too young to be a PRCA member, they will be allowed to participate in the Invitational roping, but earnings will not count. In order for money won at this event to count for qualify for the 2020 National Finals Rodeo or the 2020 Rookie of the Year Standings, a SR contestant must have entered and competed at a minimum of 15 PRCA rodeos, during the 2019 rodeo year. Money won will count for 2020 PRCA World Standings. It will not count for all Around Standings, circuit standings, or towards a circuit rodeo participation count.
All entries for the Invitational Events will be processed through Procom. All contestants should verify they are in good standings with the PRCA at time of entry and confirm their entry prior to the close of books.
